Deftones invited the son of ailing bass player Chi Cheng onstage with them in Sacramento on Wednesday night (October 10th), according to Loudwire. Cheng has been in a semi-comatose state for nearly four years after sustaining head injuries in a November 2008 car accident. At the band's show in the California capital -- which is also Deftones' hometown -- they invited Gabe Chengto play bass on the song "Root" as the audience gave him a deafening welcome.
- Deftones is on the road to promote its upcoming seventh album, Koi No Yokan, which arrives on November 13th.
- Koi No Yokan is the second album, following 2010's Diamond Eyes, that the band has recorded with Sergio Vega on bass as a fill-in for Chi.
- The group plays on Friday night (October 12th) in Portland, Oregon, and has dates booked through November 21st, when the trek closes in Los Angeles.
- Chi Cheng continues to recuperate at home in a minimally conscious state, although he has battled pneumonia and infections in the past year.
