A man was killed while attempting to escape security outside a concert by Volbeat in Lubbock, Texas on Monday night (March 11th). A local TV station reported that 39-year-old Jubal Colvin of Abilene, who was stopped by security earlier for carrying a knife, tried to get into the venue by jumping a fence, was chased and then fell 20 feet, striking his head on concrete. He later died at a local hospital. Volbeat did not issue a comment on the incident. (source)

Volbeat has released the video for "Cape Of Our Hero," the first single from the Danish band's upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen And Shady Ladies. The song has just hit rock radio, while the clip tells the story of a young man who looks back at his youth and remembers his father as the most heroic figure in his life. Frontman Michael Poulsen told us that the song was very personal to him: ["I lost my father four, five years ago and I believe that every man in this universe, you know, they have their heroes and most of us are looking at our dad as a big hero. And so of course I'm singing about a little boy who lost his father, and then at the same time he loses his belief in his superheroes."]

  • Outlaw Gentlemen And Shady Ladies will be released on April 9th.
  • Former Anthrax member Rob Caggiano, who was a producer on the new disc, recently joined the band as its new guitarist. He replaces guitarist Thomas Bredahl, who was given his walking papers in November 2011.
  • The new disc follows up 2010's Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, which featured three Number One rock radio hits, "A Warrior's Call," "Still Counting" and "Heaven Nor Hell."
  • Volbeat is currently on a spring tour of North America that next stops in Las Vegas on Thursday (March 14th).
